Welcome

Welcome to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Deming, New Mexico. We strive for communion with God and with each in the fellowship of love. We follow the Eucharist with a fellowship meal or at least snacks during the summer, only Easter excepted. This is a continuation of the tradition of the very early Christian churches to honor God and one another in the breaking of the bread of the Eucharist and of the fellowship meal. We would be pleased to have you join us in the Eucharistic feast and in the fellowship of food.

Services Sunday Communion Service at 10:30 a.m., followed by a fellowship meal in the Parish Hall. The Eucharist begins as we prepare to come to church on Sunday and does not end until we take the presence of Christ into the world after our fellowship. There is an informal Morning Prayer service on Wednesdays at 10:15 a.m., normally followed by a short Bible study and rarely by a Eucharist. Currently we are studying St. Luke's Gospel and the Acts of the Apostles and welcome suggestions as to what book of the Bible to study next. Special services are normally posted on the outside church bulletin board and noted on the church answering machine message.

He worked for two years as Executive Director of the local Economic Development Corporation, for several years as a real estate agent, and for much of the time as a free lance writer, and was a paid columnist for the Deming Headlight for nearly 20 years before retiring his column, “Inside Out.”

Our Prayers  O Holy God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who prayed to you that His followers might be one even as You and He (and the Holy Spirit) are one (in blessed Trinity), expand, sustain, and restore the unity of all your followers and with prevenient grace move toward that same unity and communion with you all who are isolated from your love and from those who honor Christ’s commandment to love one another, that Your Name be glorified and salvation received by all through faith in Christ.

O Holy God, giver of all good gifts, who gave His only Son to heal our separation from Him, so encourage and strengthen St. Luke’s Church in Deming by the power of Your Holy Spirit, that Your love and mercy, the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit might be felt by all who meet it and its members through Jesus Christ Our Lord to the glory of Your Name. Amen.
